We opened our doors in September 2022 in Tavistock, Devon.
Principal Charlotte Lee began dancing at 4 years old and never looked back. From local shows, festivals and exams, she then trained professionally in Musical Theatre at Bodywork Company, Cambridge, and gaining ISTD DDI & DDE qualifications in Imperial Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap Dancing.
It goes without saying that First Aid training, DBS checks, insurance and safeguarding for the students are always kept up to date. Charlotte is a proud member of the ISTD and has 10 years teaching experience in Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, and Asia. You're in safe hands!
Whilst Miss Lee is busy teaching, you will find the friendly face of Julia, Charlotte's mum. Looking after all things 'admin' making everything run smoothly behind the scenes!
The foundation of dancing. Since it's origins in the fifteenth century, it has been globally influential to all dance styles. Ballet is often characterised by technical precision, fluidity and gracefulness, and elegant, clean lines. For this style, fast footwork is often utilized in order to give the impression that the performers are drifting lightly across the stage.
Tap Dance is an exciting, percussive, rhythmical dance form. The dancer uses their feet to strike the floor, beating out a melody, with tap shoes which have small metal plates on the toe and heel to give the distinctive sound. Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on screen and stage in musicals.
Modern Theatre dance is a rhythmic dance style rooted in musical theatre, which originated in America. It is often seen in musical productions and is known for its dynamic theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps and turns which all need strength and flexibility. Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Mode
